PLANNING TODAY FOR THE FACTORY OF TOMORROW
The term innovation describes a deliberate and targeted process of change towards something new.
In the context of layout and logistics planning, innovation for GEPRO means these three approaches:
ENABLING INNOVATION WITHIN PLANNED STRUCTURES
Almost daily, planners are faced with the task of adapting manufacturing capacities to new circumstances. New or advanced products, changing unit volumes, increasing diversity of variants, new manufacturing technology or legal requirements are examples of influencing factors that determine the layout of manufacturing. Layout and logistics planning accounts for this by reducing checkpoints to the minimum required and assign them to strategically convenient locations, so that at optimal material flow further expansion is still possible in the future. Another planning dimension in this approach is to enable potential third-party use at a later date.
INCLUDING INNNOVATION IN THE PLANNING OF STRUCTURES
The current state of technology as well as impending technological innovations are considered as standard in planning, and are applied upon proof of their usefulness. In this, various aspects like profitability, future viability, maturity level and safety are evaluated.
USING INNOVATIVE METHODS AND TOOLS IN PLANNING
Currently, these include data and process mining tools as well as simulation tools. Data and process mining tools help to accurately describe the status quo of an existing company by using and analyzing already existing data on processes. Using these innovative tools not only distinctly increases the accuracy of the data analysis necessary for planning, but also makes it significantly more efficient and faster. Furthermore, the results of this “data anamnesis” are an ideal basis for the simulation of future structures and thus offer decision guidance, for example when choosing variants. Finally, using simulation tools offers the opportunity for various additional safeguards and optimizations. Collision surveys and sensitivity analyses for different load cases, for example, can easily offer starting points for additional optimization.
GEPRO consists of a competent team of experienced consultants who have successfully conducted numerous layout and logistics planning projects. Our team can draw upon a great wealth of experience and expertise in classic layout and logistics planning.
The GEPRO team systematically monitors new technologies/innovations and is specifically trained to do so. We incorporate promising technological developments into our everyday work and project work. We do not only consider manufacturing technology, however. Layout and logistic planning means that the entire range of processes, systems and people needs to be taken into consideration.
